By Jack Campbell | |4 minute read

Top Employers Institute has recognised HCLTech as a “Top Employer” for 2023.

The global tech company began its journey in India in 1976 and describes itself as one of the “original tech start-ups”. Around 20 years ago, they expanded to Sydney and now the organisation works alongside some of the biggest companies in Australia, providing next-gen integrated services.

Executive vice president and country manager for HCLTech Australia and New Zealand, Michael Horton, commented on the recognition: “Our employees are at the heart of our business, and by putting them first, we’ve fostered a community where employees can grow as individuals and work as a collective.

“HCLTech has introduced a raft of initiatives to enhance its employee development, such as our TechBee Early Career Program which trains the next generation of Australia’s tech leaders while tackling the global tech skills shortage. We’re looking forward to expanding these programs and initiatives in 2023 and furthering our commitment to our valued HCLTech employees,” said Mr Horton.

The Top Employer award is given to companies who lead the charge with inspiring HR work.

David Plink, chief executive officer of Top Employers Institute said: “Exceptional times bring out the best in people and organisations. And we have witnessed this in our Top Employers Certification program this year: an exceptional performance from the certified Top Employers 2023. And amongst this community of outstanding organisations, HCLTech has proven their commitment to their employees on a global scale.”

Mr Plink continued: “This consistency in people practices across the globe characterises an exclusive group of companies that have achieved a global certification through the Top Employers program. We are proud to announce and celebrate these companies and their achievement in 2023.”

HCLTech was recognised alongside 14 other companies. The organisation also took awards for Top Employer Asia Pacific 2023, Top Employer Europe 2023, and Top Employer North America 2023.

Chief people officer at HCLTech, Ramachandran Sundararajan, further commented: “We’re incredibly thrilled that our efforts to create an inclusive and progressive company culture have earned us a spot as a Top Employer for 2023.

“Our fundamental belief that great ideas can come from anyone has helped us maintain a culture of diversity and innovation that empowers our 220,000+ employees – or ‘ideapreneurs,’ as we call them – to consistently deliver impactful outcomes for not only themselves and their own careers, but the thousands of companies with which we work to drive technological transformation and modernisation across industries,” explained Mr Sundararajan.

One of HCLTech’s fellow award winners was pharmaceutical company Boehringer Ingelheim, as recently reported by HR Leader.
