Clayton Utz giving back to the community

Australian law firm Clayton Utz has made Australia’s Top 40 Best Places to Give Back 2022 list by GoodCompany.

Community and sustainability senior manager at Clayton Utz, Marcus Ross is proud to see his company place number nine on the list.

“The focus of our programs at Clayton Utz continues to be on impact: where can we best direct our time, money and resources to support our over 20 Community Partners in the work they do in our communities,” said Mr Ross.

A few of Clayton Utz’s initiatives that secured their place on the list include their one-day paid volunteer leave, uncapped matched donations, and sponsorship of community groups.

According to GoodCompany and Clayton Utz, the firm also promotes various action plans to further diversity, equity and inclusion. A few of these plans are:

  • Reconciliation Action Plan
  • Accessibility and Inclusion Action Plan
  • Equal pay for equal work
  • Diversity Program
  • Green Energy targets
  • Recycling target
  • Pro Bono targets, and
  • Social Procurement Policy

2022 saw Clayton Utz contribute positively to the community, including making $850,000 in grants to 45 charities, and staff raising $232,000 through fundraising.

About 35 per cent of staff participated in the Workplace Giving program and 26 per cent volunteered with their community partners.

Number one on GoodCompany’s Australia’s Top 40 Best Places to Give Back 2022 list was information technology company Accenture; they were followed by property group Mirvac and energy company Origin.

Criteria for making the list is the impact of initiatives, the context in which initiatives are introduced, and the innovation behind these ideas.
