AREEA CEO, Steve Knott said: “Justice Ross has contributed to Australia’s national IR tribunal in various leadership roles since 1994. AREEA recognises and thanks him for his longstanding service to workplace relations and the FWC.”

“In recent years Justice Ross has overseen significant efforts to streamline and improve the tribunal’s enterprise agreement approval processes. This initiative saw the FWC slash average approval times from 76 days down in 2019 to 15 days in 2022,” said Mr Knott.

Justice Ross held the position of president of the Fair Work Commission since 2012. Previously, he was vice president of the Industrial Relations Commission and a federal court judge.

Mr Knott continued: “Justice Ross also oversaw the tribunal’s review of modern awards and commenced its digitisation strategy that will further increase the FWC’s performance and accessibility for practitioners.

He added: “AREEA wishes Justice Ross and his family all the best in his retirement from the tribunal.”
