The HR Leader in discussion with Nintex’s Christian Lucarelli

By Jack Campbell | |5 minute read

Nintex’s APAC vice-president Christian Lucarelli and The HR Leader discussed what Nintex is, how he gravitated from working in HR to leading a software automation company, and why tech is crucial to business success.

Shandel McAuliffe, editor at HR Leader: “How did you go from working in HR to becoming vice-president at Nintex?”

Mr Lucarelli: “I always gravitated towards the human capital, human element of businesses, and how they operated. And I was fortunate to get my grounding at Siemens along those lines. But then as I developed and as my skill set grew, I took more of a shining to how technology played a role in that, and then ultimately, how businesses ran from a go-to market standpoint.”

He continued: “So if I look at the way that I’ve applied myself and focused my career, HR and the skill set I’ve learned from there really grounded me across all the other management requirements that I now [use on] a day-to-day basis. So, I initially set out to be in HR, but as I developed and focused on the technology and go-to-market side of things, I built my way up to what I do now.”

Editor: “What does Nintex offer, and why is it important for businesses to invest in technology like yours?”

Mr Lucarelli: “We are an automation organisation, so we focus solely on driving operational excellence through helping organisations not only discover and map their processes, but then take it one step further and drive automation projects and opportunities within businesses to create better synergies and outcomes for the business.”

“We have a workflow-forms and robotics-process-automation capability that helps take the manual and mundane and repetitive tasks in business processes out, to then help streamline them to create a higher value outcome across the processes that businesses are looking to run. And encompassing all that, we provide an awesome reporting capability to help them report back into C-level and into different divisional heads around how different processes are working within organisations, and then how they can take that automation further to service their customers.”

Editor: “Why is technology such a key focus of yours?”

Mr Lucarelli: “I saw how important technology was in enabling and making people work more effectively. Starting off 20-odd years ago now, there was still a lot of manual and paper-based processes within organisations.”

“I saw an opportunity to really work with technology to enable all people within organisations to do better, and to focus on higher value tasks and activities and strategy within the business, rather than having to focus on repetitive administrative tasks that usually bog them down and take them away from exactly what they want to achieve, which is [to] serve their customers better and make more of an impact.”
