Australian shift management platform Deputy has appointed a new chief executive officer.

Silvija Martincevic has been appointed the new chief executive officer.

The appointment will see Deputy co-founder Ashik Ahmed relieve his role as CEO for Ms Martincevic to take over, joining the board of directors in an advisory position.

Mr Ahmed said: “When Steve Shelley and I co-founded Deputy 14 years ago, we had an idea and some very big aspirations. We nurtured those ambitions into a reality far beyond our wildest dreams, and it has been my absolute honour and privilege to have led Deputy to this point.”

“Today, more than 330,000 workplaces and 1.3 million shift workers use Deputy daily in over 100 countries. Our impact story is just beginning, and our global story is not yet complete. I’m delighted to welcome Silvija as our next CEO – she is well-positioned and more than qualified to execute the massive goals we have set for ourselves globally,” said Mr Ahmed. This CEO appointment coincides with Deputy’s achievement of reaching $100 million in annual revenue.

Commenting off the back of her appointment, Ms Martincevic said she is looking forward to leading Deputy through this next critical stage of growth.

“Deputy has earned a global reputation for product innovation in simplifying shift work. With its global footprint, 14 years of deep knowledge and accumulated workforce data, and a mission-driven approach, Deputy is best positioned to build a bright future for the world’s 2.7 billion shift workers – two-thirds of the world’s working population,” she said.

“Brands like F45, Gelato Messina, Qantas, Taronga Zoo and The Iconic utilise Deputy to communicate with, schedule, and create a more flexible and transparent workplace for their employees.

“I am proud to be Deputy’s new CEO, and I’m excited to work with our passionate team to improve the lives of millions of hourly workers and bring thriving workplaces to every community.”

Ms Martincevic will primarily work out of Deputy’s US office in San Francisco, travelling to the London and Sydney offices when necessary.
