InDebted given title of Australia’s Best Place to Work

InDebted has been recognised as Australia’s Best Place to Work by the Australian Financial Review (AFR).

On 26 April 2022, InDebted was named as the overall Best Place to Work, and also won the technology industry’s Best Place to Work. The award was given by AFR BOSS Best Places to Work, and Inventium was the judging partner.

According to InDebted, they won the award due to offering unlimited leave, a new four-day working week, remote working and an office stipend.

InDebted’s four-day work week programme started September of last year in an effort to support work-life balance. Pay remains the same for employees, and people are not expected to fit five days' worth of work into four. InDebted attributes their strong recruitment and retention results to this new innovative programme.

InDebted’s founder and CEO, Josh Foreman, commented:

“I’m a firm believer that the way you treat your employees manifests in the way they treat your customers. When people feel cared for and supported, they will do amazing things for others.”

He continued:

“We’re focused on that philosophy. Work shouldn’t leave people worrying about the fundamentals such as time with family, money, or health. It should create a better way for work and life to function together, while providing opportunities for people to feel challenged, fulfilled, and supported along the way. Being named Australia's Best Place to Work is a humbling recognition that when you put your people front and centre, everyone benefits.”

InDebted started in 2016, and describes itself as, “a global digital debt collection solution with the world’s most intelligent, customer centric collections platform.” The team is 260+ people strong and is spread across 11 countries.

Mr Foreman said:

“InDebted was founded to reform an industry and create change for good, and a big part of this is challenging the stigma of working in debt collection.”

According to InDebted, a staff survey showed that 97 per cent of people are proud to work for the company, with 92 per cent indicating they intend to still be there in two years’ time. InDebted indicated that they did well in regard to purpose, democracy, flexibility, growth and equality when looking at the Best Places to Work judging framework.

As announced by the AFR, other Best Places to Work awards went to Vista for best employee experience, Six Pivot for employee flexibility, Affinity for employee wellbeing (the company also won the media and marketing category) and Wisr for diversity and inclusion.
